Wildcat Debate Shines at States! 🐾🏆
The Wildcat Debate Team had an incredible showing at the VHSL State Tournament at JMU!
🥇 Meneja Gautam and Lexi Otten were crowned State Champions in Public Forum Debate — an amazing achievement!
🥉 Dillon Kao placed 3rd in Student Congress
👏 Soorya Sridharan also had a strong performance in Student Congress.

Just in time for Memorial Day....AFJROTC is hosting a flag retirement ceremony and is collecting old United States flags that are no longer fit for display. Flags can be dropped off in the collection box near the school library. Your flag will be disposed of in a respectful and dignified manner. 🔥 HUGE congrats to our Deep Run TSA (Technology Student Association) team! 🔧📐
This weekend at the State Conference, our Wildcats competed against the best in Virginia—and dominated with 14 top-three finishes, earning 3rd place overall for the prestigious Van Dyke Award! 🏆
With less than half the competitors of many other teams, DRHS still beat out Highland Springs and only finished behind powerhouse chapters Chantilly and Thomas Jefferson. 💪
This year’s success proves that quality > quantity, and our students’ excellence, grit, and creativity truly stood out on the state stage.
👏 If you see a TSA student this week—congratulate them! They’ve made our school proud.

We had a full house for Mrs. St. James’ talk on “Becoming an Indie Author.” Mrs. St. James, a published author and Deep Run English teacher, shared with Mrs. Cho’s students about her personal experience as an indie author and encouraged students in their writing goals.

Congratulations to Zigi Utah for her powerful recitation of "The Hill We Climb" By Amanda Gorman in the 2025 HCPS Black History Month Poetry Slam.
Zigi's words honored Black History and culture in a meaningful and inspiring way. Thank you for sharing your voice and creativity with our school community! Dr. Fellows presented her with the Langston Hughes Recognition for Rhythm & Flow trophy to recognize her achievement!
